Bastet

Bastet (or Bast) is one of the most feminine and graceful Goddesses of the Ancient Egypt.

This beautiful goddess symbolizes the hearth and was revered as the protector of the home, family and children, and also embodied qualities such as beauty, affection and grace. Bastet is known all over the world as the patron Goddess of cats. She was depicted as a cat or a woman with a cat's head.

Graceful Bastet is the daughter of the mighty Ra, God of the Sun. She was considered all-seeing and even took a place in her father's guard.

In the old myths was often mentioned that Bast has two incarnations - a woman with a cat's head (good nature) and with a lioness's head (aggressive one) - Mywt and Sekhmet.

The myths about Bast create the image of an affectionate, graceful and caring protector. It is quite possible that the popularity of the Bast cult in ancient times was dictated by a kind of "closeness" of this goddess to the world of ordinary people: destroying rodents, the sacred cat acted as the protector of the house and the harvest. These doings has formed in human consciousness the image of the Goddess of love, patroness of women and children.

At the same time, cats remained dangerous predators, leading a predominantly nocturnal lifestyle, which is why Bast was often associated with the moon, and sometimes even appeared in the little-known role of the "guide of the dead" in the darkness of the afterlife.

Nowadays exist many cat shelters with the Bast's priests and priestess working in there, who are caring for homeless, ill and betrayed cats.

Bast accepts only one kind of a prayer to her - whatever you want to ask from her, ask quetly. And then necessarily do something good to her children, her beloved cats - adopt one, just feed one or two, cure the ill one and so on.

Only then she will listen to your words of pray.
