Persephone, Greek goddess of spring. The queen of the underworld.

    Material: Natural wood
    Height: 21 cm (8.3”)
    Width: 8 cm (3.1”)
    Depth: 4 cm (1.6”)
Finish: Protective lacquer with antique patina
Handmade: Yes, carved by hand in Ukraine
Suitable for: altars, ritual spaces and mythology collections

This wooden figurine is designed with a flat back and features a special loop/hook, allowing it to be easily mounted on a wall.

This handcrafted wooden figurine exquisitely depicts Persephone, the powerful Queen of the Underworld and the radiant Goddess of Spring and Growth. Daughter of Demeter and Zeus, Persephone's myth profoundly symbolizes the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth, as she divides her time between the vibrant upper world and the solemn realm of Hades. This meticulously carved wooden piece offers a captivating and deeply symbolic presence, making it a profound addition to a personal collection, an evocative decorative accent for a home, or a meaningful focal point on an altar.

In this portrayal, Persephone is shown as a young girl in a traditional Greek dress, symbolizing her initial innocence and her dual role within mythology—both as the maiden Kore of spring and the formidable queen of the dead. She is surrounded by antique decorative patterns, enhancing the timeless and mythical atmosphere. In her hand, she holds a pomegranate, her most significant attribute, representing her unbreakable bond with the underworld and the vital link between life and death. At her feet, delicate quatrefoils are depicted, symbolizing new life, growth, and fertility, starkly contrasted by the presence of a skull (available as an option with the figurine). This dual imagery vividly signifies her role in bringing forth new life in spring and her profound connection to the realm of Hades.

Special Note: This figurine is available in two distinct options, differing in the detail depicted at Persephone's feet: one option features delicate quatrefoils alone, while the other includes the powerful symbolism of a skull alongside the quatrefoils. As each figurine is handcrafted from natural wood, subtle variations in wood grain and minor details may occur, making your piece truly one-of-a-kind. If this item is not immediately available in stock, please allow up to 7 days for your order to be created and dispatched. Please note that shipping time will be additional to the creation period.

Wonderful addition to my altar! It’s beautiful. The seller was very kind as well, and reached out to explain that shipping would be slow. However, the item came much quicker than I expected! I recommend this shop.

Item is smaller than I would have expected for the price I paid so that's a bit disappointing. However it is a very pretty piece. One of the prettier versions of the goddess that's currently out there
