This handcrafted wooden figurine portrays Baldr, a revered deity within Norse mythology. Baldr is widely recognized as the God of Light, Purity, Beauty, and Reconciliation. He is a son of Odin and Frigg, known for his inherent goodness and the universal love he inspired among all beings. His tragic death, brought about by the dart of mistletoe, is a pivotal event in the mythological cycle leading to Ragnarök. This meticulously carved wooden piece can serve as a thoughtful addition to a personal collection, a decorative accent for a home, or a focal point on an altar.
In this depiction, Baldr is shown surrounded by symbolic attributes. The mistletoe represents the unique vulnerability that led to his death, as it was the only thing capable of harming him after Frigg had extracted oaths from all other things not to harm her son. The sun signifies his inherent purity and light, reflecting his bright and benevolent nature that endeared him to all. His purity was such that no evil could touch him, and his light was said to brighten all around him.
