This handcrafted wooden figurine portrays Bragi, the revered God of Poetry and Music in Norse mythology. Bragi is celebrated for his eloquence, wisdom, and mastery of scaldic poetry. He is often depicted as an older, distinguished figure with a long beard, a visual representation of his profound knowledge and experience in the arts of verse and song. This meticulously carved wooden piece can serve as an inspiring addition to a personal collection, a decorative accent for a home, or a focal point on an altar.
In this depiction, Bragi is shown singing and playing a musical instrument, directly symbolizing his domain over song and verse. At his feet lie a drum and a paper with a quill, reinforcing his mastery of both music and written poetry. Behind him, a horn filled with mead or honey, often associated with the mead of poetry, signifies divine inspiration—a gift that Odin himself is said to have brought to the gods. An apple tree is also present, representing his wife, Idunn, the goddess of youth and immortality, whose apples grant eternal youth to the gods, further connecting Bragi to themes of creativity and renewal.
