Celtic Goddess Dana, made form Natural wood. Wiccan dietiy.

    Material: Natural wood
    Height: 21 cm (8.3”)
    Width: 8 cm (3.1”)
    Depth: 4 cm (1.6”)
Finish: Protective lacquer with antique patina
Handmade: Yes, carved by hand in Ukraine
Suitable for: altars, ritual spaces and mythology collections

This wooden figurine is designed with a flat back and features a special loop/hook, allowing it to be easily mounted on a wall.

This handcrafted wooden figurine beautifully embodies Danu, the primordial and revered Great Mother goddess of Celtic mythology. Often associated with rivers, waters, fertility, and the very essence of life, Danu is considered the ancestral mother of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the primary pantheon of Irish gods. Her presence signifies abundance, ancient wisdom, and the flowing, life-giving energy inherent in all natural waters. This meticulously carved wooden piece brings a serene yet powerful presence, making it a deeply meaningful addition to a personal collection, a comforting decorative accent for a home, or a profound focal point on an altar.

In this depiction, Danu is shown with flowing robes and a serene expression, visually embodying the nurturing and life-giving aspects of nature. While specific attributes are less standardized in surviving Celtic texts, her portrayal often emphasizes her connection to flowing waters—rivers, streams, and the generative forces of the earth. She is the source from which life springs, symbolizing the continuous flow of energy and nourishment that sustains existence. This representation captures the serene and powerful essence of Danu, reflecting her fundamental role as the wellspring of life and wisdom in the Celtic spiritual landscape.

Special Note: As each figurine is handcrafted from natural wood, subtle variations in wood grain and minor details may occur, making your piece truly one-of-a-kind. If this item is not immediately available in stock, please allow up to 7 days for your order to be created and dispatched. Please note that shipping time will be additional to the creation period.

It took a while before I found a Danu statue... I searched long and hard last year and settled on a Gaia one that I also love. Once this Danu appeared, however, with all her doves.... well, she had to join. She's beautiful, as depicted, and her body carries the strength of youth while heavy with the weight of deep pregnancy. This is more evident when holding her in person. She looks and feels ready to nurse the life she's about to birth.

As soon as she appeared, I "favourited" her... in this difficult world, I wasn't sure about one as soft and sweet as this one... but isn't that what children crave and need? At least one nurturing, gentle mother to lean into? One whose entire being is focussed on bearing and sustaining and nurturing Life?
