This handcrafted wooden figurine powerfully depicts Olokun, the revered Yoruba water deity and one of the most enigmatic and respected orixa in West African tradition. Known as the keeper of the deepest oceans, Olokun embodies wealth, the mysteries of the sea, ancestral wisdom, and spiritual balance. As a central figure in African mythology, Olokun is honored for granting prosperity, healing, and protection, and is deeply connected to other major African deities, especially Yemaya, with whom he shares dominion over the waters.
In this statue, Olokun rises dramatically from swirling ocean waves, holding a trident firmly in his right hand—symbolizing sovereignty, command over the seas, and the raw power of the water element. His crown is adorned with sculpted coral, representing hidden treasures and the sacred beauty of the deep ocean. Across his chest rest layered necklaces of pearls and shells, traditional emblems of abundance, spiritual currency, and maritime authority.
