This handcrafted wooden figurine portrays Thor, one of the most widely known and revered gods in Norse mythology. Thor is the powerful god of thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, and the protection of mankind. He is the son of Odin and Jörð (Earth), renowned for his immense strength and his role as a steadfast guardian of Asgard and Midgard against giants and monsters. This meticulously carved wooden piece can serve as a robust addition to a personal collection, a striking decorative accent for a home, or a prominent focal point on an altar.
In this depiction, Thor is shown with his quintessential attributes: his hammer Mjölnir, his iron gloves Járngreipr, his strength-enhancing belt Megingjörð, and his two goats. Mjölnir is his most famous weapon, capable of leveling mountains and always returning to his hand; it symbolizes his power over thunder and lightning, as well as his protective role. Járngreipr, his iron gloves, are necessary for wielding Mjölnir. Megingjörð, his magical belt, doubles his already incredible strength, highlighting his formidable might. Finally, his two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, pull his chariot, allowing him to travel across realms. They are not just beasts of burden; when Thor gets hungry, he can roast them for food and then resurrect them the next day with Mjölnir, showing his unique connection to these animals and his boundless power.
